Applications are invited for a Research Technician (Bioinformatic Analysis) to work with investigators in the Wellcome Discovery Research Platform for Cell-Matrix Biology.

The primary focus of this role will be to help and support the development and deployment of advanced bioinformatics approaches, including high-throughput proteomic analysis, data integration, and machine learning applications in biological research. Additionally, the appointed person will work part-time on developing and maintaining community database and web resources aimed at advancing cell-matrix research.

This role involves working with excellent core facilities equipped with state-of-the-art computational resources and collaborative environments. The Research Technician will work closely with the Discovery Research Platform bioinformatic team to develop and optimise pipelines for improved data processing and interpretation. There will be opportunities to learn new techniques and undertake training courses as needed.

This is a full time appointment starting 1 December 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter, and is for a fixed term until October 2027. Should the appointment prove successful, there is an opportunity for an extension.

Located at The University of Manchester, the Manchester Cell-Matrix Centre is one of eight Discovery Research Platforms recently awarded by the Wellcome Trust. The Discovery Research Platform for Cell-Matrix Biology will address a range of practical, technological, and methodological barriers to understanding how changes in the extracellular matrix leads to tissue failure. We are seeking driven and ambitious individuals to play a pivotal role in overcoming these barriers. Successful candidates will contribute to our bold vision to reprogramme extracellular matrix, which has the potential to lead to innovative new diagnostic tools and treatments for diseases such as cancer and fibrosis. The platform will embrace a Team Science approach and provide an exciting opportunity to work with groups from diverse research areas and collaborate across disciplines.
