We wish to recruit aResearch Leaderto work in our Cambridge office to lead research on evidence for safety. This role will help to lead our expanding team working on evidence for safety and health and how it can be used in practice, as well as wider issues such as new technologies and ways of working, such as artificial intelligence, and wider wellbeing in the workplace.

The position we are recruiting for is based within the Health and Wellbeing (HWB) Research Group. Current HWB group members have backgrounds in health services research; health economics; epidemiology; public health; psychology; workplace health, wellbeing, and safety; health innovation; sociology and other social science and health related disciplines.

Our work on occupationalSafety, Health and Wellbeingis built on around two decades of experience and continues to grow. You will have the opportunity to work with and lead a variety of colleagues, clients and partners across private, government, academic and philanthropic sectors. We are building on a range of collaborations and we expect this role to directly contribute to our work withLloyds Register Foundationas well as wider work in this area.

This is an exciting opportunity working with one of the world’s most respected public policy research organisations.  It is ideally suited to a flexible and ambitious individual who is used to engaging with a wide range of stakeholders across the public, private and third sectors, who is interested in research across a wide variety of issues, and who enjoys playing a leading role as part of a talented team in a collegiate and fast-paced environment.

This role will be based at our Cambridge (UK) office; RAND Europe operates on a hybrid working policy with the opportunity to work from home for part of the week.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading and building a growing portfolio of research and analysis projects on safety and health in the workplace, including identifying opportunities, developing proposals and teams, successfully delivering large and complex projects and communicating evidence effectively;
  • Developing innovative concepts and methods for evidence on safety and health in the workplace
  • Effectively managing colleagues and contributing to the overall objectives and values of the Health and Wellbeing Research Group and RAND Europe as a whole

Requirements

  • A research track record in one or more fields related to evidence for policy, ideally specifically for safety and health in the workplace, with a demonstrable and strong track record ofapplying your research skills to policy problems. Experience of working across different countries and in with different stakeholders is an advantage, as is success in developing, winning and delivering research.
  • Excellent skills inworking in and leading teams, leading and motivating others, mentoring and developing colleagues for career progression; and managing largeprojects and budgets;
  • Anestablished network of contacts and partnersoffering the potential to develop collaborations and form teams to deliver first class research proposals on evidence for policy and projects on safety and health.
  • Excellentoral and written communication skills(evidenced by examples) for varied audiences.  Excellent English language skills are essential; additional language skills are an advantage.
