Research Associate in Artificial Intelligence – UNSW

Join to apply for the Research Associate in Artificial Intelligence role at UNSW.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research activities to advance expertise in Cognitive Robotics and Knowledge Representation and Reasoning/Neuro-Symbolic Artificial Intelligence.
  • Engage in scholarly research growth, contribute to writing scientific papers and reports for international journals, and participate in conferences and workshops.
  • Work with industry partners and actively participate in related activities.
  • Report to Professor Maurice Pagnucco, Deputy Dean (Education), Faculty of Engineering, and operate with no direct reports.
Qualifications
  • PhD (or soon to be awarded) in knowledge representation and reasoning (artificial intelligence) or neurosymbolic AI or a related area.
  • Proven commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality academic research and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
  • Understanding of UNSW’s aims, objectives and values, plus relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
Position Details
  • Salary, Level A – AUD$113,911 to $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia
  • Full-time
  • Fixed-term contract – 3 years
