Quantitative Developer - Commodity Trading House


  • Perm role

  • Salary up to £100k base + strong bonus + package
  • Hybrid role - 3 days in the office in the City


Quantitative Developer Key Responsibilities:

The Quantitative Developer will work with the Front Office trading teams to design and develop a new greenfield platform that will consolidate pricing feeds, trade capture, risk management and execution systems.

In addition to this, the Quantitative Developer will provide BAU support to existing applications and help to improve the legacy codebase.


Quantitative Developer Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Front office strategies team and trading desks to continue with the design and build out of a new pricing, risk management, research and analytics, and execution system.
  • Support the effort in building solutions for our expanding Global Oil, EU Power and Gas desks across London, Paris, Singapore and New York.
  • Provide BAU support to existing applications and help to improve the legacy codebase.
  • Collaborate with the infrastructure/technology teams and other areas of the business to support the build out of this new platform.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working as a Quantitative Developer or Data Scientist for a trading firm, energy utility, or financial institution.
  • Experience working within a front office environment, engaging with front office stakeholders.
  • A high level of competency in a STEM subject such as Computer Science or Math's and demonstrable by academic achievement or relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of options and quantitative finance/financial mathematics.
  • Prior experience operating as a Quant Developer, building libraries and/or working on trading strategies.
  • Proven experience in Python development.
  • Experience with UI/UX development (e.g. React JS/AG Grid/State Management) also a plus.
  • Previous experience working with Excel/VBA and related third party add-ins/APIs.
  • Solid understanding of object orientated and functional programming paradigms.
  • Good understanding of relational databases (e.g. SQL Server/Oracle) and/or object databases (e.g. Mongo DB/KDB).
  • Good understanding of DevOps practices (e.g. CI/CD, Docker, Pipelines) and Version Control/Code Repositories (e.g. Git/GitHub/Azure/TFS).
