The Opportunity:

The UK's leading Tech Consultancy seeks an influential Principal Data Architect with deep expertise in data strategy, architecture, and governance to lead a complex data transformation project for a Public Transport Company.

The Role:

• As the Technical Data Advisory Lead, you will drive data strategy and policy, playing a key role in transforming data architecture and creating a strong framework to support a modern, forward-thinking data strategy.
• Leading the centralised Data Engineering team, you’ll set standards and governance that drive secure, compliant, and efficient data solutions.
• This role is about creating strategic architecture, leveraging Azure cloud capabilities, and enforcing consistency across Azure IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services to ensure data quality and governance.
• You’ll establish end-to-end engineering support, automate processes for cloud services and cataloguing, and foster collaboration with the DDaT team, data engineers, scientists, and stakeholders to deliver solutions that align with business needs, all while driving innovation in cloud technology.

Key Requirements:

• Active SC clearance and UK public sector project experience.
• Proven expertise in designing data architectures on Azure.
• Strong skills in data modelling, warehousing, and ETL development.
• In-depth knowledge of data governance, security, and regulatory practices.
• Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Extensive IT experience managing complex projects under tight deadlines.
• Azure certifications (e.g., Data Engineer or Data Scientist).
• Familiar with architecture modelling and machine learning tools on cloud platforms.
