Principal Computational Genetics Scientist

We are recruiting for a PrincipalComputational Genetics Scientist to join a global biopharma clientbased in Slough on a contract basis initially for 12 months. Therole will operate on a hybrid basis working 2 days in the office 3work from home.There is a high likelihood of extension for theright person depending on performance andimpact.

Overview:

• Thegroup supports the RD pipeline ranging from target identificationclinical development and through to postmarketing
• The genetics group is small butdynamic a group that develops and applies leading edge analyticsand approaches to answer a diverse set ofquestions
• The successful candidate will supportthe analytical workload within the group
• Youwill also be involved in and potentially leading projects with anoutward facing role

YourBackground:

• Directexperience of analysing and using genetic data generated throughmultiple platforms and associated analyticalapproaches
• Expert knowledge of statistics withspecific experience in and application of statisticalgenetics
• Advanced computational skills:proficiency in using R python SQL bash and experience of working ina cloud environment
• Ability to interpret andpresent data in the context of the questionunderstudy
• Good knowledge of the drug discoveryprocess
• Problem solvingskills

Preferred:

• Experienceof the application of genetics and genetic approaches to drugdiscovery and development
• Experience of usingand querying population databases
• Expertise inmethods for functional interpretation of genomics data such asvariant and gene pathway mapping andenrichment
• Ability to understand and integratedata from other sources (e.g. transcriptomicsproteomics)
• Expertise in the application ofmachine learning or artificial intelligenceapproaches
• Relevant biologyexpertise
