Job Description: Role: Machine Learning Engineer
Duration: Initial 6-12 months
Clearance Required: eDV
A leading client within the UK defence sector is seeking experienced Machine Learning Engineers to join their AI and data science division. Contribute to UK's national defence by developing advanced AI solutions.
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team working on deploying machine learning models for defence applications such as autonomous systems, surveillance, predictive analytics, and decision support.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement ML models for real-time or mission-critical environments
Analyze complex datasets, including geospatial, signals, or operational intelligence data
Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and defence stakeholders for system integration
Test, validate, and document ML models according to standards
Stay updated with emerging AI/ML techniques applicable to defence
Qualifications and Skills:
Strong background in machine learning, data science, or AI, with a related degree
Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch
Experience building and deploying ML pipelines
Understanding of algorithm performance in sensitive environments
Experience in defence, aerospace, or security sectors preferred
Knowledge of computer vision, signal processing, or NLP
Familiarity with MLOps, edge computing, or synthetic data
Knowledge of government or MOD procurement is a plus
