Lead Analyst


  • Full time hours - 37.5 per week
  • A fixed-term agreement to 31.03.25
  • A remote work schedule.


As the Lead Analyst, you’ll bring passion to the role, contributing significantly to informed decision making for short term national and regional projects. Your expertise in technical analysis will span various disciplines including modelling, statistics, data science, operational research, and health economics. You will navigate the entire analytics life cycle, collaborating closely with decision makers to achieve real impact.

Post responsibilities include:

  • Maximise the information held within existing NHS data sets, including complex data management and manipulation; work with the data warehouse development team to automate, streamline and productionise data assets to support analysis.
  • Gather, analyse, and interpret complex NHS information from a wide range of sources taking account of confidentiality and the limitations of data used.
  • Interpret and explain findings of complex investigation and analysis and recommendations in a clear and intelligible form, as presentations or written reports.
  • Understand the context within which our customers operate and assist them to identify and structure the problems they need to address.
  • Develop excellent relationships and support effective communication between all relevant stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Manage, motivate, inspire and develop staff within the team to ensure that they are able to deliver team objectives.


Experience and qualifications required include:

  • Educated to master’s level in relevant subject or equivalent of working at a similar level in specialist area – data science/health economics/analytics.
  • Significant experience of using data and conducting complex analysis in the NHS.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R and Python for data manipulation, analysis and visualisation.
  • Demonstrable experience of using various information analysis techniques such as SQL and associated tools.
  • Be able to communicate the results of complex analysis, both through verbal presentations and written analyses.
  • Skills for communication on complex matters and difficult situations, requiring persuasion and influence.
