This Junior Decisions Scientist will report to the Senior Decision Sciences Manager and will work within the Strategy & Regulation and Support Services directorate based in our London office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £25,000.00 and a bonus of 7.5%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote

About the Analytics Team:
Our Analytics team is an important part of UK Power Networks, collaborating with all directorates to lead data-related innovations. We are embedded within the various teams, working hand-in-hand to understand their visions, align on project scopes, and develop relevant insights and tools. Our role extends beyond delivery as we also focus on maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure that supports our analytics projects.

Role Overview:
You will help use data to guide strategic decisions and operational improvements across UK Power Networks. You will develop advanced analytical models and tools to address important challenges and enhance our services. Your work will directly affect our ability to accelerate low carbon technology (LCT) connections, improve asset investment strategies, and improve our response times during power outages.

Key Responsibilities:
Build trust and collaborate with other teams:Work with multiple directorates to understand their goals and analytics needs. Agree on the vision and scope of analytics projects to provide tailored solutions. Get involved in the upskilling of other teams with less experiences with data analytics
Develop Insights and Tools:Create advanced analytical models and tools to extract relevant insights from complex datasets. Ensure these solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned with our goals. Main tools for delivery are Databricks (insights) and Plotly Dash (apps), and we work mainly in Python.
Maintain Infrastructure:Oversee the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of analytics infrastructure to ensure reliable performance and continuous improvement of our tools and systems.
Drive Impact:Contribute to important projects such as:
Accelerating LCT Connections:Provide data-driven insights to refine processes and facilitate quicker connections of low carbon technologies, supporting our Net Zero commitments.
Optimizing Asset Investments:Use analytics to strategize and plan asset investments, reducing customer downtime, and enhancing the reliability of our supply.
Improving Response Times:Develop models and tools to enhance our first response to power outages, minimizing the duration and effect on customers.

Requirements:
ExperienceYou will have experience with analytical decision sciences or straight from university with experience of scientific analysis Experience synthesising strategic thinking and analytical experimentation into well articulated, simple (business) actions
QualificationsDegree educated in a numerate discipline Track record in delivering analytical projects or open innovation projects
SkillsData Science, Statistics, Visualisation At least one of PowerBi, Python, R, Tableau
