Location: INTO Lancaster

Salary: £27,253- £34,498 Depending on Experience

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

INTO Lancaster are currently recruiting for a Student Support Officer (Welfare) to join their team.

 We will be looking for an exceptional candidate who will be the first point of contact for welfare and wellbeing for the INTO students. We are seeking a dedicated, proactive individual to join Support Services, which provides 3 main core functions: Student Support, Student Experience and Engagement, and Administration, Admissions and Accommodation.

 The successful candidate will provide accurate information, advice and guidance to students during the duration of their studies. All interventions with students will be recorded on our client record management system, and therefore detailed administrative skills will be required. We are looking for a person who can be a friendly professional to support students to overcome personal or emotional barriers to their learning. The ideal candidate will provide pastoral support, with good communication skills, and be able to triage and escalate urgent issues through the appropriate referral pathways.

At busy times in the academic year, there may be a need for the Student Support Officer (Welfare) to support the work within either Student Engagement (such as helping with social activities) or some of the functions of Administration, Admissions and Accommodation (such as student induction and welcome week activities).

Some of your key responsibilities are:

To be part of a comprehensive welfare support service offering individual information, advice, guidance to students. To assist with maintaining and overseeing an “under 18” welfare policy and procedures to ensure that students under 18 years of age feel safe and supported whilst studying at the centre. Maintain accurate student records and information in the Centre systems and provide reports and management information as required by the Senior Management team. Provide assistance and information to help deliver orientation week & deliver presentations on arrange of topics. To assist with the arrival and registration of students if required. Respond to basic information requests regarding accommodation provided by INTO. Work with the Student Services team to ensure that an all-inclusive social programme is delivered as part of a strong support network for students. Promote and support the INTO Centre and the business in a positive manner.

About You:

This is a student facing role where you’ll need to be approachable and have the ability to deal with a wide range of people from different backgrounds.

You will have excellent spoken and written communication skills.

Good IT skills including competence in the production and analysis of data using excel.

You will have strong observational skills and problem solving abilities.

You will be Committed and responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young adults.

Location:Teaching is face to face, delivered from INTO Lancaster, George Fox Building, Lancaster University, Bailrigg, Lancaster, LA1 4YJ.
