The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Head of Data to develop our data strategy, aligned to business goals and objectives. This person will lead our Data team of data analysts, scientists, and engineers and will be the owner of our proprietary database and data technology.

The Head of Data will be responsible for maintaining and improving the quality of our data and working closely with our Intelligence, Index, and Engineering teams. The remit includes overseeing data gathering via web-scrapers and APIs, regular analytics requests, and developing and maintaining our suite of data science tools.

Key Responsibilities

1. Own our proprietary database, data gathering infrastructure and promote good data governance practices.
2. Scale and maintain the quality of data used through the business across our numerous data sources.
3. Work with other teams within the business to provide analytical and automation support to drive business objectives and products.
4. Managing a small team of Data Scientists, Analysts, and Engineers.
5. Technical lead across data science, analytics, and data engineer work and provide technical recommendations or solutions to problems that can be solved with data.

Core Skills

1. 8+ years of experience in Data Science or Data Engineering, with at least 3+ years in a managerial or leadership role.
2. Proven track record of building a multidisciplinary data team.
3. Strong technical expertise in building scalable data processes.
4. Strong technical knowledge or previous experience in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or Data Engineering practices.
5. Strong technical development knowledge in Python.
6. Experience in managing and building with the GCP suite of services.
7. Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills and experience in Agile methodologies.
8. Demonstrated sense of ownership and accountability for the teams projects.

Nice to have

1. Experience working in a startup or scaleup environment.
2. Experience in a research, media, or consulting environment.
3. Experience using Generative AI for information extraction.
4. A general interest in AI and emerging technologies, and their impact on the world.
5. An interest in financial services sectors such as banking or insurance.
