Job Description:

We are seeking a talentedData Visualization Specialist + Graphic Designerto join our LabX team at Dar on a 3-month contract, with the potential for further employment. In this role, you will translate complex data into visually engaging and dynamic maps, graphs, and graphics for use in our reports. This role is ideal for someone with both technical expertise and strong graphic design skills, ready to contribute to innovative urban planning projects by creating compelling visual narratives.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop clear, visually appealing maps, charts, and infographics from data sources (e.g., CSV files).
  • Collaborate with the LabX team to integrate visual outputs into dynamic Adobe InDesign reports.
  • Use programming languages (e.g., Python, R, JavaScript) to process data and create data visualisations.
  • Ensure that visual outputs are up-to-date and responsive to new data inputs.
  • Contribute to the design and layout of reports, ensuring high standards of aesthetics and clarity.
  • Work across a variety of projects, applying design expertise in different contexts to support strategic urban planning.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, with a strong focus on data visualisation.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, R, JavaScript) for data processing and visualisation.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, ggplot2, D3.js).
  • Expertise in Adobe InDesign, with experience integrating visual outputs into report formats.
  • Strong graphic design skills, with a portfolio showcasing high-quality reports, maps, and infographics.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.


Desirable:

  • Experience working with GIS software and spatial data visualisation.
  • Familiarity with Adobe scripting (e.g., InDesign scripting) for workflow automation.
  • Experience with other design tools such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
