At Wheely, we’re a luxury brand on the outside, but a technology company on the inside, building the world’s first Luxury-as-a-Service. We believe that time is the ultimate luxury and that modern engineering and design, combined with the industry’s highest standards of service, can unlock an unparalleled experience for our customers. From on-demand chauffeuring, concierge service, to our best-in-class app, we exist to help our clients reclaim their time by connecting them to the places and people that matter.

More than 40% of our team works in product & engineering, and both Wheely founders are technical. We are also unapologetically design centric. It’s not about A/B testing one hundred shades of blue, but crafting the perfect shade. We also take a privacy-first approach and believe that where people travel, and who they travel with, is at their discretion.

Backed by leading global investors, Wheely is poised for the next phase of our journey. Over the next 5-10 years, we plan to offer a full portfolio of luxury services and expand into more international cities, building on our success in London, Paris, and Dubai.

MARKETPLACE
The Marketplace team is responsible for matching passenger requests with available chauffeurs. Their areas of responsibility are pricing, dispatching/matching protocols and incentives. Their success criteria are to maximize welfare (i.e. reliability, utilization) and to avoid a known failure mode of ride-hailing marketplaces known as the wild goose chase.

SCIENTISTS IN THE MARKETPLACE
We’re looking for a talented Data Scientist to join to define metrics, produce insights & predictive models and ultimately introduce practices from empirical science as needed to achieve our future ambitions.

This is a unique opportunity for talented, commercially and user-oriented scientists to develop core marketplace capabilities in a mature and profitable company with a unique customer base.

Strong preference will be given to those who have 2+ years experience in a similar role at another ride-hailing company.

WHAT YOU’LL DO IN THE NEXT 12 MONTHS
Define and make readily available the Wheely Marketplace metrics: Work with the Data Analysts and leadership in the Marketplace team to establish holistic metric frameworks to measure performance of initiatives from all perspectives in the marketplace (e.g. Chauffeurs, passengers and Wheely).

Produce insights and make recommendations: Segment the driver allocation and dispatch problems, establish baseline performance and work with the Marketplace team to propose 3 hypotheses to improve marketplace performance across the segments.

Establish prediction problems and develop offline models: Build a trip demand forecast as an input to daily driver dispatch by area and work with product teams to develop features and incentives as needed to implement it within next 3-6 months.

Work cross-functionally to ensure scientific control in marketplace metrics: Bring your insights, models and capabilities to the Marketplace team to ensure we can make controlled improvements in any marketplace metric through controlled changes in other metrics.

Help pave the way for more scientists: Identify gaps in Science capability based on the challenges you’re facing and your past experience. Work with your line manager to create a case for hiring those capabilities.

Own your role and create your own path: Connect with the team, understand the company goals and your role; Align with your line manager and team about how you will contribute and any critical dependencies you’ll have.

REQUIREMENTS
Degree in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
Experience in Operations Research or Economics is a plus.
Preferably experience of turning algorithms into production systems.
Proficiency in SQL.
Strong programming skills in Python or similar language.

WHAT WE OFFER
Wheely expects the very best from our people, both on the road and in the office. In return, employees enjoy flexible working hours, stock options and an exceptional range of perks and benefits.

Office-based role located in West London
Competitive salary & equity package
Medical insurance, including dental
Life and critical illness insurance
Monthly credit for Wheely journeys
Lunch allowance
Professional development subsidies
Cycle to work scheme
Top-notch equipment
Relocation allowance (dependent on role level)
Wheely has an in-person culture but allows flexible working hours and work from home when needed.
Wheely is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

Negotiating Your AI Job Offer: Equity, Bonuses & Perks Explained

Artificial intelligence (AI) has proven itself to be one of the most transformative forces in today’s business world. From smart chatbots in customer service to predictive analytics in finance, AI technologies are reshaping how organisations operate and innovate. As the demand for AI professionals grows, so does the complexity of compensation packages. If you’re a mid‑senior AI professional, you’ve likely seen job offers that include far more than just a base salary—think equity, bonuses, and a range of perks designed to entice you into joining or staying with a company. For many, the focus remains squarely on salary. While that’s understandable—after all, your monthly take‑home pay is what covers day-to-day expenses—limiting your negotiations to salary alone can leave considerable value on the table. From stock options in ambitious startups to sign‑on bonuses that ‘buy you out’ of your current contract, modern AI job offers often include elements that can significantly boost your long-term wealth and job satisfaction. This article aims to shed light on the full scope of AI compensation—specifically focusing on how equity, bonuses, and perks can enhance (or sometimes detract from) the overall value of your package. We’ll delve into how these elements work in practice, what to watch out for, and how to navigate the negotiation process effectively. Our goal is to provide mid‑senior AI professionals with the insights and tools to land a holistic compensation deal that accurately reflects their technical expertise, leadership potential, and strategic importance in this fast-moving field. Whether you’re eyeing a leadership role in machine learning at an established tech giant, or you’re considering a pioneering position at a disruptive AI startup, the knowledge in this guide will help you weigh the merits of base salary alongside the potential riches—and risks—of equity, bonuses, and other benefits. By the end, you’ll have a clearer sense of how to align your compensation with both your immediate lifestyle needs and long-term career aspirations.

AI Jobs in the Public Sector: MOD, NHS & Gov Digital Service Opportunities

Artificial intelligence (AI) has rapidly evolved from a niche field of computer science into a transformative force reshaping industries across the globe. From healthcare to finance and from education to defence, AI-driven tools and techniques are revolutionising how we approach problems, improve efficiency, and make data-driven decisions. Nowhere is this transformation more apparent than in the United Kingdom’s public sector. Key government entities, including the Ministry of Defence (MOD), the National Health Service (NHS), and the Government Digital Service (GDS), are increasingly incorporating AI into their operations. Consequently, AI jobs within these bodies are growing both in number and strategic importance. In this comprehensive blog post, we will explore the landscape of AI jobs across the UK public sector, with a close look at the MOD, the NHS, and the Government Digital Service. We will delve into the reasons these organisations are investing heavily in AI, the types of roles available, the essential skills and qualifications required, as well as the salary ranges one might expect. Whether you are a new graduate keen to make a meaningful impact through your technical skills or a seasoned professional looking for your next career move, the public sector offers a wealth of opportunities in AI. By the end of this article, you will have a clearer understanding of why AI is so crucial to the public sector’s success, which roles are in demand, and how you can tailor your application to stand out in a competitive and rewarding job market.
