And as our business grows, we want our people to grow, too. That's why we offer constant opportunities to learn and improve, to achieve and advance.

Opportunity:

What insights can you deliver from a data set comprised of the world's wealthiest and most influential people? We're looking for a Data Scientist who can work independently to discover and create scores, predictions, and intelligence on a unique, people-based data set.

Altrata includes more than 100 million profiles on wealthy individuals around the world and more than 12 million profiles on senior decision makers, board members, and C-suite leaders.

Are you able to predict a future billionaire? What about the future executive teams of Fortune 500 companies? What's happening to the distribution of wealth in the United States? We're looking for a self-guided and independent Data Scientist who can take a data set and derive new insights from it. Your guidance, led by your strong analytical thinking abilities, will be used to launch new product lines and guide organizational strategy. You'll champion the use of data-driven decisions throughout the business, through experimentation, statistical techniques, and ML models.

You should apply with:

  • You have multiple years of experience in Data Science
  • You can work independently with potentially ambiguous business problems to analyze data sets to derive new insights
  • You can communicate well with all organizational levels from Software Engineers to senior executives
  • You can operate in a diverse and globally distributed working environment
  • You have a set of Data Science tools at hand and can code in Python and SQL

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Predictive Models: Build and deploy machine learning models to predict key business outcomes, optimize processes, and improve decision-making.
  • Scoring & Segmentation: Create scoring systems to rank and segment data, enabling targeted strategies for customer engagement and product development.
  • Data Analysis & Insights: Analyze large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and actionable insights that drive business strategy and product innovation.
  • Collaborate with Product Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams (product, marketing, engineering) to launch new product lines based on data-driven insights.
  • Feature Engineering: Identify and create relevant features from raw data to improve the performance of machine learning models.
  • Data Visualization: Present complex data and modeling results in an easily understandable format for stakeholders at all levels.

What we offer:

  • Flexible working with a London-based office
  • Complimentary access to training through LinkedIn Learning
  • Benefits package (including health insurance, generous pension, etc.)
  • Support to achieve industry certifications including training and exam costs
  • A friendly working environment where you are trusted and empowered to succeed

More about Altrata:

Altrata is comprised of five distinct offerings: BoardEx, Boardroom Insiders, RelSci, WealthEngine, and Wealth-X.

Altrata is actively committed to promoting, fostering, and nurturing a diverse and inclusive environment, and all applicants will receive equal consideration regardless of race, sex, religion, color, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status. We recognize that these types of statements appear often in job descriptions. At Altrata, we really and truly mean it.

We are guided by three key values and strive to always be purposeful, dynamic, and authentic in everything we do.

How we work:

In short, we work flexibly! Altrata employees can choose to work from wherever they want (mostly). For some, that might mean splitting time between working from home and one of our global offices, and for others that could mean working fully remote. We want our team to choose the working dynamic that works best for them. We currently have team members spanning the following countries: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Hungary, India, and Malaysia.

We also start our weekends early, at lunchtime on Fridays (really!), giving everyone a jump on their weekends.

Studies have shown that women, people of color, members of the queer community, and people with disabilities are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Altrata, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

Interested in joining our growing global organization? At Altrata, we can promise you two things: You will be in good company and you will make an impact.

How Many AI Tools Do You Need to Know to Get an AI Job?

If you are job hunting in AI right now it can feel like you are drowning in tools. Every week there is a new framework, a new “must-learn” platform or a new productivity app that everyone on LinkedIn seems to be using. The result is predictable: job seekers panic-learn a long list of tools without actually getting better at delivering outcomes. Here is the truth most hiring managers will quietly agree with. They do not hire you because you know 27 tools. They hire you because you can solve a problem, communicate trade-offs, ship something reliable and improve it with feedback. Tools matter, but only in service of outcomes. So how many AI tools do you actually need to know? For most AI job seekers: fewer than you think. You need a tight core toolkit plus a role-specific layer. Everything else is optional. This guide breaks it down clearly, gives you a simple framework to choose what to learn and shows you how to present your toolset on your CV, portfolio and interviews.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in AI Job Applications (UK Guide)

Hiring managers do not start by reading your CV line-by-line. They scan for signals. In AI roles especially, they are looking for proof that you can ship, learn fast, communicate clearly & work safely with data and systems. The best applications make those signals obvious in the first 10–20 seconds. This guide breaks down what hiring managers typically look for first in AI applications in the UK market, how to present it on your CV, LinkedIn & portfolio, and the most common reasons strong candidates get overlooked. Use it as a checklist to tighten your application before you click apply.

The Skills Gap in AI Jobs: What Universities Aren’t Teaching

Artificial intelligence is no longer a future concept. It is already reshaping how businesses operate, how decisions are made, and how entire industries compete. From finance and healthcare to retail, manufacturing, defence, and climate science, AI is embedded in critical systems across the UK economy. Yet despite unprecedented demand for AI talent, employers continue to report severe recruitment challenges. Vacancies remain open for months. Salaries rise year on year. Candidates with impressive academic credentials often fail technical interviews. At the heart of this disconnect lies a growing and uncomfortable truth: Universities are not fully preparing graduates for real-world AI jobs. This article explores the AI skills gap in depth—what is missing from many university programmes, why the gap persists, what employers actually want, and how jobseekers can bridge the divide to build a successful career in artificial intelligence.
