What you'll do
Support the development of data capabilities and insight generation through various techniques for the International business. You will work closely with key stakeholders to understand their needs and implement relevant data and analytics solutions. You will help the International business identify opportunities, evaluate initiatives, and support long term strategies.
Act as a data and analytics consultant to help identify opportunities, drive understanding and provide solutions for all key stakeholders, presenting results in an accessible, informative and audience-tailored way. Champion the use of data and the power of analytics to the International business and beyond. Provide insight of our business and customers through the integration of data and actively encourage the use of data to answer business questions. Work closely with other members of the Data & Analytics team to improve skills and knowledge of the whole team. Keeping updated with new technologies, industry developments and best practices relating to analytics, data science and technology solutions. Understands the key business drivers for M&S International and how they relate to the overarching business strategy. Undertake the production of routine, ad-hoc, and project-oriented analysis to provide reporting, insight, and arguments to drive incremental value for International. Contribute towards the development of our data systems, processes, and report production to improve efficiency and effectiveness of our insight. Taking a proactive approach to improving data quality in International, utilising data quality and data management tools and information. Validate data flows, flag and action issues identified and follow up with relevant stakeholders.
Who you are
Creative problem solving, analytical and numeric skills within relevant business context are essential., with an understanding of analytics solutions and best practices supporting scalable data solutions. Ability to initiate and build strong relationships, influencing stakeholders and wider team members. Can tell a story through data. Practical ability to communicate and present complex information to non-technical audiences. With experience of taking a leading role in data and analytics solutions when working with key stakeholders. Experience of creating and implementing data and analytics solutions in a previous role. An innate passion and curiosity for understanding and investigating data and how this can improve performance. Demonstrable SQL skills in querying complex data sets and an understanding of Data Warehousing concepts. Application of statistical modelling techniques using data-oriented Python or R programming languages. Knowledge of data manipulation and visualisation tools such as Power BI. Understanding of different retail-oriented data sources, including familiarity with digital and web data. Bachelor of Science degree in Maths, Statistics, Computer Science or similar is preferable.
