London wide Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme (IAPT) for CBT High Intensity Trainee Therapists
Psychological therapy services across London are recruiting CBT High Intensity Trainees. These services deliver evidence based psychological therapies for people with anxiety and depression. Waltham Forest are looking to recruit trainees for March 2025.
Applications are invited from qualified Clinical / Counselling Psychological Therapists, Mental Health Nurses, Psychotherapists, Counsellors, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners to apply for the one-year full-time Talking Therapies post graduate diploma courses based at Royal Holloway.
Applicants without a recognised and accredited core mental health professional training (, PWPs) can apply but must be able to meet the required KSA process.
*Please note PWP’s need to have a minimum of 2 years full-time post-qualification experience.*
The training programme consists of three days working at Waltham Forest Talking Therapies service and two days at university. Each training place involves being employed by a service for the length of the training contract. One evening (12pm-8pm) and one day on site is required.
Contracts of employment will be at a Band 6 or equivalent and fixed-term for one year whilst training. Royal Holloway/CNWL will provide the training.
Main duties of the job
We are a dynamic and empowering team and as such the post holders will be expected to work well within a team setting, however, should also be able to deliver an autonomous service as part of the role, operating within recognised professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s services policies and procedures. Post holders will be expected to work within the service's business hours.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement Outer London – 15% of basic salary, with a minimum of £4,551 and maximum of £5,735, pro rata for part time staff.
