Main duties of the job

As a key part of our Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Service, the post holder will undertake CAMHS assessments of children and young people up to age 18 to inform formulation, diagnosis and recommendations for treatment within a spectrum of mental health presentations. You will have a caseload, offering evidence based interventions to children and adolescents with complex mental heath needs and their families .

You will have the ability to deliver a range of evidence based clinical interventions for children and young people and will be supported to train in other treatment modalities . Develop and maintain close working relationships with members of the team and partnership agencies Social Services, Education and others is essential.

You must demonstrate an interest in multi-agency and multi-disciplinary work and be familiar with evidence-based practice in children's mental health. There are excellent opportunities for CPD, in service teaching and supervision within the team and the Trust.

You must be able to work independently and have good clinical / therapeutic and case management skills to engage this group of young people.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy Successful completion of a graduate training ( nursing, social work, occupational therapy) or equivalent substantial CAMHS clinical experience Further professional knowledge will have been gained through accredited courses workshops, study and in house training programmes ( CYP- IAPT training) To be eligible for registration as a full member of the appropriate professional body ( HCPC, NMC) where appropriate

Experience

Essential criteria

Experience of working with difficult, disturbed, or challenging children/young people requiring skilled and complex interventions Experience of working with children and adolescents with comorbid difficulties and special needs. ( combination of organic and emotional deficits, such as autistic spectrum disorders and trauma) Experience of working therapeutically with parents/carers/familie s of children and young people with complex mental health problems

Knowledge

Essential criteria

An awareness of NHS priorities High level knowledge of the theory and practice of short term and long term in clinical interventions in CAMHS/EWMHS Knowledge of legislation in relation to children and adolescents and safeguarding procedures and policies

Skills

Essential criteria

To be able to travel efficiently throughout the area Basic awareness of IT and IT skills, Ability to communicate clearly and effectively highly complex and sensitive matters to patients, which give rise to psychological distress Highly developed ability to integrate complex clinical information into a coherent formulation
