‍Job Description

We are seeking a talentedBackend Engineerto contribute to the backend development and infrastructure of our document processing and post-trade applications. The ideal candidate will be skilled in modern software development practices and technologies, with an interest in machine learning, and adept at building scalable cloud infrastructure. Experience in a financial institution is a plus.

Responsibilities

• OCR and Document Extraction Integration:Implement and optimise the integration of OCR tools such asTesseractand machine learning frameworks likePyTorchto extract data efficiently from documents.
• API Development:Craft and maintain robustRESTful APIsto facilitate communication between the frontend and backend, ensuring smooth data flow and security.
• Data Management:Oversee data storage solutions including initial implementation withAWS S3and strategise future database optimisations and migrations as the platform evolves.
• Backend Integration:integrate data providers into a scalable solution
• DevOps:Configure and manage cloud services across AWS focusing on scalable and secure application deployments.
• CI/CD Pipeline:Develop and maintainCI/CDpipelines to enhance development and deployment workflows.
• Security and Compliance:Maintain strict compliance with data security regulations to ensure that sensitive information is securely handled and does not exit external APIs.

Key Requirements

• 3-5+ yearsofappliedbackend engineering experience.
• Expertise inPython,and/or other object-oriented languages.
• BScorMScdegree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field preferred.
• Proven ability inRESTful APIdevelopment.
• Strong familiarity withAWSservices such asECS,Lambda, andS3, and openness to working withGCPorAzureequivalents.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using tools likeJenkins,GitLab CI, orGitHub Actions.
• Knowledge in containerisation (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes/ECS), and serverless frameworks.

Compensation

• Salary: £70,000+ base
• Bonus:Up to 30% depending on performance
• Shares: Options for the right candidate
• Holidays: 28 days per annum
• Pension: In line with UK statutory requirements
• Salary Review Period: Annually (every 12 months)
• Probation Period: 3 months
• Reporting to: Co-founder and CTO
• Work from Home:Hybrid setup
