Job Description

We are seeking to recruit an Associate Director to join our Strategic Modelling and Appraisal team in the South East to help win and deliver projects as well as drive innovation.

We’re looking for individuals who can develop and lead a team, take ownership of their work to help deliver exciting projects and find optimal solutions to meet client and commercial needs.

An ideal candidate will come from an analytical background and experience in transport modelling and simulation of transportation systems, including conventional and emerging transportation systems, demand modelling, agent-based modelling, activity-based demand modelling, programming and visualising data.

This role requires demonstrable VISUM experience, with experience in statistical and/or demand modelling being highly desirable.

We use technology, Big Data (e.g. Mobile Phone and GPS data) and apply statistical modelling, programming, operational research, artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to develop transport modelling tools as well as visualising transport data. We work collaboratively with colleagues across AECOM’s different business lines.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an accomplished team and work on a range of ground-breaking and innovative projects for a wide variety of clients.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Provide technical leadership in VISUM, and preferably statistical and/or demand modelling
  • Drive innovation in transport modelling, research, data analysis and visualisation
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Help develop client portfolio and technical capabilities in emerging areas (e.g. such as agent-based, activity-based demand modelling, and data-driven models)
  • Contribute to Technical and Financial Proposals
  • Manage projects/workstreams within projects, ensuring that best practice techniques are applied consistently.
  • Explore opportunities to innovate and add value in traditional transport modelling projects.
  • Contribute to and attend industry events and conferences.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrable VISUM experience in a technical lead role
  • Experience in transport demand and supply modelling; forecasting and experience in appraisal and evaluation of transport proposals
  • Knowledge and experience in computer programming languages (e.g. Python, R)
  • Experience of delivering challenging transport planning projects
  • Experience of working on a variety of projects as project leader with experience of dealing directly with clients
  • Risk identification and management skills
  • Experience of applied research and development
  • Good knowledge and familiarity with key guidance documents, such as TAG
