Owlstone Medical is seeking a dedicated Analytical R&D Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic Analytical Science group. This role focuses on supporting experiments through routine lab-based task. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and analytical skills, with a background in science. This is a task orientated role with key responsibilities that include following established procedures in supporting the various projects through sample and system preparation, sample analysis ensuring reliable and accurate data collection, as well maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples and perform routine laboratory tests and experiments as directed by research teams. 
  • Assist in the development, optimization, and validation of analytical methods and procedures. 
  • Biochemical support e.g. preparation of reagents for bioassay. 
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment. 
  • Record experimental procedures, observations, and results accurately in accordance with established protocols. 
  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment. 
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes and procedures. 
  • Primarily responsible for personal tasks and contributions, requiring self-discipline and responsibility. 
  • Contributes to group efforts and collaborates effectively with team members. 

Requirements

Knowledge

  • Understanding of Analytical Science with a focus on expanding knowledge and experience. 
  • Strong laboratory skills, including sample preparation, pipetting, and handling of hazardous chemicals. 
  • Knowledge of basic analytical techniques. 
  • Ability to follow detailed protocols and maintain accurate records. 
  • Basic computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office and data analysis software. 

Experience

Previous experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in a research and development environment. 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field or equivalent experience.
