You'll work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams and platform owners to understand requirements, develop effective solutions and ensure they are secure, reliable and fit for purpose. • Develop workflows, applications, forms, automations and AI-powered agents.
  • Build integrations between enterprise platforms, internal systems, APIs and data services.
  • Choose the right approach for each challenge, from platform configuration and low-code development to extensions and custom code.
  • Apply appropriate testing, source control, release management and deployment practices.
  • Ensure solutions meet security, privacy, governance and operational requirements.
  • Troubleshoot issues across applications, integrations and data, providing ongoing support and continuous improvement.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and communicate solution options and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve engineering standards, share knowledge and explore new platform and AI capabilities.

What we're looking for

  • Experience designing and delivering solutions using enterprise applications, workflow automation, low-code or AI platforms.
  • Experience with either Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power Apps, Power Automate, Microsoft Copilot Studio, ServiceNow (including configuration, application development and workflow automation) or Intapp.
  • Understanding of business processes, solution design, integrations and APIs.
  • Experience with testing, deployment and ongoing application support.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • An interest in emerging technologies and the responsible use of AI.
  • Able to work in either the Manchester or Leeds office three days a week

Why consider this opportunity?

  • A varied technical role spanning enterprise applications, workflow automation and AI.
  • The opportunity to work on solutions that address real business needs.
  • Exposure to a broad range of platforms and integration challenges.
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and opportunities to contribute to shared engineering standards.
  • A supportive, inclusive working environment that values innovation, professional development and teamwork.
  • Hybrid working, with three days per week in the office in either Leeds or Manchester.

If you have been watching AI job boards over the past year, one title keeps surfacing again and again: the forward deployed engineer, or FDE. It has gone from a niche term known mainly to Palantir alumni to arguably the hottest role in the entire AI hiring market. Job postings for forward deployed engineers have exploded, salaries have climbed past levels most software engineers will ever see, and the biggest names in AI — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Salesforce, Databricks and Palantir — are all competing for the same small pool of talent. So what exactly is an AI forward deployed engineer, why has demand surged so dramatically, and how do you position yourself to land one of these roles? This guide breaks it all down for AI engineers, software engineers and data scientists looking at their next move.
