Senior .NET Software Engineer (TDD & Agentic AI Workflows) | Up to £80,000 | London

I'm recruiting on behalf of a well-established UK insurance broker (17 years in business, freshly invested in to grow into new markets) who need a brilliant .NET engineer to join as their second senior hire.

The mission: drive proper test-driven development and strong unit-testing practices across the team, then use that foundation to build an agentic AI workflow - where engineers write clear requirements and tests, and AI agents handle implementation, raising pull requests the team can actually trust. You'd still be hands-on, building and maintaining core software alongside leading this initiative.

What you'll be doing:

  • Championing TDD and unit-testing best practice across the team
  • Designing and rolling out an agentic AI workflow, including server-side AI code review and quality checks wired into CI/CD and GitHub
  • Analysing existing codebases for risks and improvement opportunities
  • Working with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Deploying to AWS with a focus on scalability, security and reliability
  • Writing clean, well-tested, well-documented code
  • Supporting monitoring, alerting and production troubleshooting

What's on offer:

  • 20 days' holiday, rising to 25 with service
  • Genuine influence over engineering culture and practices from an early stage
  • A close-knit team spanning the UK and India

Location: London (hybrid/occasional WFH)
Level: Senior - second engineering hire

What Is an AI Forward Deployed Engineer? The Fastest-Growing Job in AI for 2026

If you have been watching AI job boards over the past year, one title keeps surfacing again and again: the forward deployed engineer, or FDE. It has gone from a niche term known mainly to Palantir alumni to arguably the hottest role in the entire AI hiring market. Job postings for forward deployed engineers have exploded, salaries have climbed past levels most software engineers will ever see, and the biggest names in AI — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Salesforce, Databricks and Palantir — are all competing for the same small pool of talent. So what exactly is an AI forward deployed engineer, why has demand surged so dramatically, and how do you position yourself to land one of these roles? This guide breaks it all down for AI engineers, software engineers and data scientists looking at their next move.
