Lorien's leading Lorien's leading Pension and Investments client is looking for aQuant Engineering & AI Assurance Expert to support the industrialisation ofBalance Sheet Modelling (BSM) processes, ensuring quantitative models and AI-enabled solutions are robust, scalable, controlled and production-ready.

The role will sit at the intersection ofQuantitative Engineering, AI, Model Risk and Assurance, helping transition modelling processes from manual or prototype solutions into governed, automated production capabilities. You will establish appropriate testing, validation, assurance and auditability standards while operating within a highly regulated Financial Services environment

The ideal candidate combines strongquantitative/model engineering expertise with AI assurance and model risk experience. They will be comfortable working hands-on with Python and modern engineering practices while also understanding the governance, testing, control and regulatory requirements necessary to safely deploy quantitative and AI-enabled solutions within a Financial Services environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Industrialise and automate Balance Sheet Modelling workflows, improving scalability, repeatability and operational resilience.
  • Engineer and integrate quantitative and actuarial models using Python, APIs and modern software engineering practices.
  • Design and implement automated testing and validation frameworks covering model functionality, data quality, performance and controls.
  • Establish CI/CD practices for quantitative models and AI-enabled solutions, enabling controlled and repeatable deployment.
  • Define and implement model risk, governance and control frameworks appropriate for production modelling environments.
  • Provide assurance over the use of AI and GenAI within modelling processes, ensuring solutions are explainable, traceable, auditable and appropriately controlled.
  • Conduct production readiness assessments, identifying gaps across technology, controls, testing, monitoring and operational support.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive audit evidence, control documentation and model governance artefacts.
  • Work closely with Quantitative, Actuarial, Technology, Architecture, Risk, Compliance and Audit stakeholders.
  • Support BSM procurement and assurance activities, including assessment of third-party solutions, vendors and associated model or AI risks.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in Quantitative Engineering, Actuarial Modelling, Financial Modelling or Model Engineering.
  • Strong hands-on Python development experience, including integration of models through APIs.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and software engineering controls for quantitative or analytical solutions.
  • Strong understanding of model risk management, validation, controls and governance.
  • Knowledge of AI assurance, including explainability, auditability, testing, monitoring and governance of AI-enabled solutions.
  • Experience taking quantitative models from development or prototype environments through to production-ready solutions.
  • Strong understanding of the Financial Services regulatory and risk environment.
  • Ability to translate technical modelling and AI risks into practical controls and assurance requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across Technology, Quant, Risk, Compliance and Audit functions.
