Make Wayve the experience that defines your career!

About the Team

Portal is the platform that connects Wayve to the outside world; handling data exchange with partners, surfacing AI insights, and enabling the commercial deployment of Wayve's autonomy stack to OEM partners globally. The team operates as astartup within a scale-up: with its own infrastructure, its own DevOps, and a high-autonomy operating model independent from Wayve's core engineering org.

The Role

We're looking for aPlatform Engineer to own and evolve the cloud infrastructure and developer tooling that underpins the entire Portal engineering team.

This is abroad, hands-on platform engineering role, not a narrow specialisation. You'll work across cloud infrastructure, RBAC/IAM, CI/CD, Kubernetes and developer productivity. You'll be the person application developers come to when they need to move faster, more safely and you'll build the systems and guardrails that make that possible.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build and maintaincloud infrastructure, CI/CD and developer tooling (primarily Azure) using IaC (Terraform) across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Own and evolveRBAC/IAM across both cloud/infrastructure and application/product layers for a multi-tenant Portal environment.
  • Build and improveCI/CD pipelines to increase developer velocity, reliability and deployment safety.
  • Support and improveKubernetes-based deployment workflows and platform services.
  • Build internal tools and observability capabilities that help engineers deliver performant, reliable software at scale.
  • Participate in asupport/on-call rotation; respond to incidents, support engineers, and contribute to root cause analysis.
  • Apply practicalsecurity and networking knowledge to harden the platform and coach application developers on best practices.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong hands-oncloud infrastructure experience, ideally Azure, with production Terraform/IaC experience.
  • StrongRBAC/IAM knowledge at cloud/infrastructure level; experience with application/product-level IAM or multi-tenancy is highly valuable.
  • Experience building and maintainingCI/CD pipelines
  • Security and networking fundamentals: you are a hands-on builder, not just a reviewer
  • Experience as part of asupport or on-call rotation
  • A strongcommunicator who can coach and guide application developers, not just build in isolation
  • Aproduct mindset: you think about the developer experience and build tools that genuinely improve how the team works
  • Highautonomy and ownership: you take responsibility for outcomes in a fast-moving team

Nice to Have

  • Experience working withmultiple cloud providers or cross-cloud IAM across Azure, AWS and/or GCP
  • Background indeveloper experience (DX) or internal tooling
  • Experience in astartup or high-growth engineering environment
  • Security certifications are a plus but not required

This is a full-time role based in our office in London. At Wayve we want the best of all worlds so we operate a hybrid working policy that combines time together in our offices and workshops to fuel innovation, culture, relationships and learning, and time spent working from home. We operate core working hours so you can determine the schedule that works best for you and your team.

What Is an AI Forward Deployed Engineer? The Fastest-Growing Job in AI for 2026

If you have been watching AI job boards over the past year, one title keeps surfacing again and again: the forward deployed engineer, or FDE. It has gone from a niche term known mainly to Palantir alumni to arguably the hottest role in the entire AI hiring market. Job postings for forward deployed engineers have exploded, salaries have climbed past levels most software engineers will ever see, and the biggest names in AI — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Salesforce, Databricks and Palantir — are all competing for the same small pool of talent. So what exactly is an AI forward deployed engineer, why has demand surged so dramatically, and how do you position yourself to land one of these roles? This guide breaks it all down for AI engineers, software engineers and data scientists looking at their next move.
