Transaction Monitoring VP

Transaction Monitoring VP at Barclays plays a crucial role in safeguarding the bank against financial crime, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing risks, and leading teams responsible for monitoring suspicious financial activities. The role demands a combination of leadership, regulatory knowledge, technical expertise, and an ability to collaborate across various functions within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the daily operations of transaction monitoring teams.

Ensure that all transactions across the bank are adequately screened for potential financial crime risks.

Supervise the handling of alerts generated by the bank’s monitoring systems, ensuring timely investigation and resolution.

Identify potential risks related to transaction monitoring and financial crime, and implement appropriate controls to mitigate them.

Continuously assess the effectiveness of the bank's transaction monitoring systems and recommend improvements where necessary.

Maintaining the product - produce the outcome end - end

Optimizing rules/ tuning

Evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of transaction monitoring systems, such as automated software tools (e.g., Actimize, Fircosoft).

Drive the adoption of new technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to improve the accuracy and efficiency of monitoring processes.

Analyze trends and patterns in transactional data to detect emerging risks and suspicious activities.

Prepare and present reports to senior management and the Board on financial crime risks, mitigation strategies, and monitoring performance.

Develop and maintain transaction monitoring policies and procedures that align with Barclays' overall compliance framework and regulatory requirements.

Ensure that the transaction monitoring framework is aligned with industry best practices and evolving regulatory expectations.

About You - Essential Experience

Have worked in a Senior Transaction Monitoring position previously

Have used Actimize system previously

Senior Change Management experience

Senior Stakeholder management experience up to C Suite Level

Life Cycle of maintaining a Rule

A clear understanding of the steps to getting tasks approved (Governance)

3 lines of Defence (3LOD) method

Desirable -

A Finance/ Mathematics/ Business or similar Degree
