We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Technical Illustrator to join our dynamic team, focusing on an innovative project in technical documentation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on precision and is eager to contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality content that meets and exceeds customer specifications.

As a Technical Illustrator at Lionbridge, you will collaborate closely with the Project Manager and the technical publications team to transform complex information into clear, professional, user-focussed documents. Your role will be crucial in ensuring our documentation achieves the highest standards of accuracy and clarity while enhancing the user experience with well-designed, user-friendly illustrations. 

You will work mainly from home with occasional visits to Lionbridge offices or customer sites for meetings and collaborative sessions.  

 

What You Will Do:
•    Produce accurate and detailed illustrations (including locator views, exploded views and cutaway diagrams) for technical manuals, user guides and engineering documents. 
•    Update existing illustrations based on feedback or changes in product design.
•    Work closely with engineers, product designers, and technical writers to understand complex concepts and translate them into clear visual representations. 
•    Ensure all illustrations adhere to project and industry standards and guidelines.
•    Maintain a consistent style and quality across all technical illustrations.
•    Provide time estimates, assumptions, and risks to the Project Manager for reporting. 
•    Coordinate with Project Manager and Technical Lead to ensure timely delivery of illustrations. 
•    Complete quality assurance reviews on other Technical Illustrator's deliverables and ensures the quality and accuracy of their work before handoff to the Technical Author 
•    Share technical knowledge and skills with other Technical Illustration team members. 


To Be Successful You Will Have:
•    Due to the nature of the work we do (Armed forces), it's required to have UK nationality and DBS level clearance.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong English language capability.
•    A strong portfolio showcasing a range of technical illustrations experience and demonstrating competence in in a related field, preferably defence or aerospace. 
•    Proficiency in illustration software including IsoDraw.
•    Experience with 3D modelling software.
•    Familiarity with military illustration specifications such as DefStan 601 Pt 4.
•    Solid understanding of engineering and technical concepts and ability to accurately interpret and illustrate complex information.
•    Ability to read and understand technical source information such as engineering drawings, blueprints, 3D data models and specifications.
•    Outstanding attention to detail.
•    Demonstratable experience of being proactive, adaptable, and resourceful.
