The Role
To act as an expert practitioner selecting, assessing, planning and delivering evidence based, nutrition and dietetic care to patients within a specialist field.
In general, to act as a source of expertise for patients, within the speciality, other health care professionals, GPs and Consultants.

What we'll need you to bring
- Registered Dietitian with valid HCPC Registration
- Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
- Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
- Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
- Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.
- Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
- The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
- Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management skills
- Working knowledge of basic information technology
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
- Relevant validated post registration course
- Member of BDA including specialist group
- Evidence of clinical experience and continuing professional development
- Relevant clinical dietetic experience working within the acute setting
- Experience of training other staff groups on nutrition
- Knowledge of specialist dietetic interventions relevant to post and up to date knowledge of professional issues, including national clinical standards and guidelines
- Knowledge of clinical governance and its application in clinical practice e.g. clinical audit, risk management etc.
- Competent computer skills
- Evidence of person centre approach to dietetic practice
- Evidence of applying evidence based dietetic practice to improve patient care

Fixed Term for 12 Months

18.5hours
Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.
Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 Months Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Dietetics Department within University Hospital Monklands
