Role: Software EngineerSalary: Circa 70k + Bonus (Up to 20%) + BensLocation: London – HybridOur client, a global Insurance client, are looking for a Software Engineer to join their growing actuarial function following their recent build of a development on-premise SQL Server. This role will involve both SQL Server and Python development work alongside on-going database administration.The role:Provide Python and SQL Server infrastructure support to the reserving team, using your developed knowledge of key actuarial principlesCreate custom reporting scripts and stored procedures from within SQL Server Management Studio, PyCharm or VSCodeEnhance the current data ingestion processes using PythonIntroduce effective environmental controls within the team and appropriate version control within the team scripts using Azure Devops / GithubImprove or rebuild/resign of the existing DEV serverAutomate routine actuarial calculations using Python and/or SQL Server to extend the existing codebaseExperience required:Python experience within the data science contextDemonstrable experience managing small-scale on-prem SQL Server databasesAble to use of Python in the context of SQL Server, including pyodbc / sqlalchemy and ExcelNice to have (not mandatory):Worked within the reserving team of an actuarial functionPowerBI reporting skillsActuarial business knowledge
