We have a new opportunity to be part of theVehicle Performanceteam in the role ofSimulator Engineer.
Suited to someone with experience in high level motorsport and with an interest to be on the front-line of Aston Martin’s current and future car development using a state of the art Driver In the Loop Simulator (DILSim).
The role is centred around the management of DILSim sessions and analysis of test items for the purpose of car development, pre-event preparation and driver training.
The position will involve close cooperation with Race Engineering, Performance Simulation, Performance Software, Aerodynamic and Tyre Performance groups.
It’s the role of the Simulator Test Engineer to:
- Create and execute efficient simulator run programs.
- Coordinate the driver(s) activities.
- Schedule test items according to priority and Race event calendar.
- Prepare the car setups/configurations and liaise with the relevant technical groups to ensure testing requirements are met.
- Report the findings post session to the technical group in a clear, time relevant manner.
- Contribute to the DILSim program between sessions with analysis tool development and productivity improvements.
A successful candidate will possess the following skills, qualifications & experience:
- Trackside race/performance engineering, including driver interaction.
- An excellent degree in Engineering, Physics or Data Science related discipline.
- Ability to create efficient session run plans, focusing on key deliverables.
- Ability to understand and describe mechanical systems.
- Strong problem solving, mathematical and analytical skills.
- Capacity to report complex technical information concisely to tight deadlines.
- Experience of creating and using data analysis tools with an awareness of statistical relevance.
Any of the following skills, qualifications & experience would be relevant, but are not essential:
- Development & use of empirical and physical tyre models.
- Some knowledge of sports psychology.
- Model correlation techniques.
- Atlas, SystemMonitor/TAG SECU.
- Matlab, C#, Python, HTML, VBA.
