Location:  Offshore - Remote UK

Salary: Highly Competitive with150 days guaranteed

You’ll be responsible for the mobilisation, operation, maintenance, and demobilisation of advanced survey equipment aboard our nearshore and offshore survey vessels, working independently or as part of a highly skilled team.

As a Senior Survey Engineer, you will work on diverse scopes, including geophysical surveys, UXO detection, and ROV inspections, ensuring the highest quality data acquisition using state-of-the-art survey technology. With opportunities to operate and maintain ROVs and USVs, you’ll work with both market-leading external tools and Beam’s innovative in-house solutions. As the offshore subject matter expert, you’ll improve mobilisation efficiency, resolve equipment challenges, and ensure projects are executed safely and successfully.

Main Responsibilities

  • Mentor other members of the team by providing training and guidance.  Support the team in accomplishing project requirements.
  • Lead all toolbox talks as required and update risk assessments as required.
  • Demonstrate commitment to and promotion of Beam values ensuring the realisation of company Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality and Ethics systems, policies and procedures.
  • Lead and direct teams to function test and install equipment.
  • Record all test reports and identify any areas of concern immediately.
  • Liaise with Party Chief, Offshore Manager and Onshore support teams as required in relation to any issues with equipment preparation, suitability and or performance.
  • Integrate sensors into supplied software packages.
  • Undertake activities related to equipment mobilisation ensuring all tasks are completed and signed off as directed.
  • During operations, work with Online Survey teams to monitor equipment to ensure quality data can be collected.
  • Assist with the calibration for the Geophysical and Hydrographic equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is tested in accordance with plan and schedule identifying and reporting any risks.
  • Ensure all safety systems are functional for deployment.
  • Monitor equipment.
  • Acquire geophysical data from sensors (SSS, SBP, MAG and others).
  • Solve problems autonomously.
  • Carry out installation of both software and hardware ensuring accurate records are kept.
  • Report and log faults.  Work closely with Project teams to capture report details of fault providing technical input as required. 


You should apply if you have:

  • Degree/HND qualified in Engineering/Electronics or related discipline (or significant relevant experience)
  • 4 years+ experience as a Survey Engineer and looking to take the next step in your career
  • Offshore experience within a similar or equivalent role
  • Valid OGUK medical and BOSIET/FOET/HUET/GWO
  • Demonstrated experience in offshore survey engineering
  • Experience of Hydrographic/Geophysical survey mobilisation and data acquisition
  • Experience with flying and operating ROTV, SSS and magnetometers
  • Experience with positioning systems – surface and subsea
  • Knowledge of ROV survey and the equipment used
  • Operational experience of MBES, SSS, Mag, SBP, MUX, USBL, INS
