About this role

We are looking for a Senior Engineer (.NET) to join a cross functional team, focussing on growing our product algorithmic recommendations within Just Eat .

Your team will focus on sharing existing machine learning and AI capabilities across the platform, improving those capabilities, and innovating new ones for the future.

As a Senior Engineer you will drive our architecture, write highly scalable and testable code, mentor engineers and challenge our teams to strive for excellence. You will work closely with a large number of teams, both internal and external, with inner-sourced development our standard way of working. Ownership is one of the core engineering principles in our organisation - we write it and we own it. Engineers are expected to take responsibility for their work from discovery to production, ensuring the ongoing reliability and stability of our systems.

Location: Hybrid - 3 days a week from our London/Bristol office & 2 days working from home

Reporting to: Senior Technology Manager

These are some of the key ingredients to the role: 

Collaborate extensively with product managers, designers, and other engineers to refine ideas and deliver innovative solutions across various team boundaries. 

Actively participate in architectural discussions and decisions, contributing to the technical vision and roadmap for new initiatives.

Lead the technical exploration and prototyping of new features and technologies, transforming ambiguous concepts into tangible software.

Drive the integration of new features and services across different components and systems owned by multiple engineering teams.

Effectively communicate technical concepts and progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, adapting to varying levels of understanding.

Build and maintain a strong network outside of your immediate team and across the organisation.

Lead projects, mentor peers, and collaborate effectively. Introduce innovative ideas and develop robust, well-considered code.

What will you bring to the table?

Proficiency in C# and .NET Core, and a strong understanding of software architecture patterns. 

Demonstrable experience in designing, building, and operating scalable, distributed backend systems.

Ability to clearly communicate with other engineering teams, influence the decision making process and reach consensus on the path to achieve results.

A proactive and adaptable mindset, with a passion for learning new technologies and a drive to explore innovative solutions.

Prior experience with API Gateway management and OpenAPI specs.

Familiarity with event-driven architectures and event-carried state transfer.

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS).
