AMD together we advance_ ABOUT THE TEAM: The Networking Technology and Solution IP Group at AMD is adding to the Data Centre design team in Belfast. We focus on IP development, covering the entire design cycle across: architecture, algorithm design and modelling, block specification, RTL design, test planning, FW implementation, verification and end-to-end validation. We get the pleasure of seeing the results of our work in real products. We are a team who actively look for variety and complicated problems in our daily work. We encourage each other to work, on all aspects of our development and to have a big picture view of our designs to better guide our block level development. Becoming a part of our local team at this stage is a hugely exciting opportunity and will enable you to play a key role in solidifying our culture and values as we grow. THE ROLE: For this highly visible role, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate success in a comparable technical role on a product team innovating and redefining high-performance computing and networking applications. Should be comfortable working in a cross-team environment and show creativity and self-motivation in their career. The focus of this role is to plan, architect, design and test new and existing features for AMD’s IP portfolio. THE PERSON: You have a passion for modern networking architecture, digital design, and verification. You have worked as technical design lead on projects working across project and departmental boundaries and have a proven track record for sustained innovation. You enjoy working in a team and sharing your skills and experience with your teammates. You are a team player who has excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with other engineers located in different sites/timezones. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are willing to learn and ready to take on problems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with architects, hardware, firmware and verification engineers to understand and implement the new features Build test plan documentation, accounting for interactions with other features, the hardware, the firmware, and the software driver use cases Plan, architect, design and test new and existing IP and features Debug test failures to determine the root cause; work with Verification and firmware engineers to resolve design defects and correct any test issues Review functional and code coverage metrics – modify or add tests or constrain random tests to meet the coverage requirements PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experienced in ASIC and FPGA design Experienced in debugging firmware and RTL code using simulation tools Experienced with Verilog/System Verilog/VHDL, C, and C++ Experience in using UVM testbenches and working in Linux and Windows environments Experience with UVM based verification frameworks and testbenches, processes and flows Knowledge Automating workflows in a distributed compute environment. Scripting language experience: Perl, Ruby, Makefile, shell preferred. Exposure to leadership or mentorship is an asset Experience in other areas of heterogenous computing, including smart networking, would be an advantage.
