SeniorRobotics Software Engineer

Are youarobotics software engineer eager to tackle complex challenges anddevelop autonomous systems Join our dynamic team and play a pivotalrole in creating innovative solutions for maritime roboticsincluding the autonomous inspection of offshore wind farmssupporting the clean energytransition.

Youwill help drive thetechnical direction and vision for navigationplanning exploration and control of robotic systems operating incomplex and challenging environments. Youwill use your extensiveexperience building deploying and testing productionlevel autonomysolutions. This role encompasses all aspects of robotics systemsdevelopment including integration and extensive fieldtrials.

As part of a collaborative team you willlead and mentor through the entire software development life cycle:design implementation testing deployment and maintenance.Championing building quality solutions through peer reviewscontinuous improvement and leveraging our continuous integrationpipelines. You will provide deep robotics and software engineeringexpertise to a crossfunctional team collaborating with experts inRobotics Perception and Machine Learning. This collaboration iscrucial for delivering innovative robust highquality and valuableproducts.

Your thorough understanding of researchand the ability to work closely with researchers to translate novelideas into tangible products will bepivotal in advancing cleanenergy technologies and the broader field of maritimerobotics.


Objectives& Responsibilities:

Vaarstis an exciting and dynamic environment meaning these are likely tochange as we grow upon joining your objectives and responsibilitieswillinclude:

  • Driveinnovation in thedevelopment of autonomous roboticsystemsarchitecting and implementing advanced features for marineapplications optimising performance for scalability andefficiency.
  • Write and maintain highqualityefficient and scalable code using modern C. Champion rigorousquality standards including comprehensive code reviews unit testingand continuous integration practices.
  • Providetechnical leadership mentoring junior engineers and fostering acollaborative growthoriented environment with technical reviews andconstructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with productteams to define project requirements and objectives. Coordinatewith crossfunctional engineering teams to integrate and alignvarious components and systems.
  • Lead andparticipate in all phases of the product lifecycle from initialconcept and design through to implementation testing anddeployment. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhanceproductivity and productquality.

  • Experiencein software development focusing on Robotics and ModernC.
  • Delivered successful robotic products andsolutions in a professional setting with significant industryexperience.
  • Participated in and led fieldtrials of robotic systems.
  • mentored junior teammembers and led technicaldevelopment

TechnicalSkills:

  • Expertise indeveloping productionlevel modern C and Pythonsoftware.
  • Advanced knowledge of roboticsprinciples and techniques including vehicle dynamics controlalgorithms sensor fusion and stateestimation.
  • Experience solving roboticsproblems such as:
    • Positioning and navigation ofrobotics vehicles within uncertainenvironments
    • Mapping and path planning throughunstructured terrains
    • Vehicle dynamics andcontrol of underactuated vehicles using PID LQRMPC
    • Interfacing with sensors and actuatorsincluding writingdrivers.
  • Proficiency inROS and Linux/Ubuntu environments with experience in integrationand deployment of robotics systems.
  • Familiaritywith advanced robotics tools and libraries such as OpenCV PCL EigenNumpy and Docker.
