Job Type: Permanent Build a brilliant future with Hiscox Senior People Analytics Engineer Reporting to the Head of People Data and Analytics York or London – a min of 2 days in the office per week The Team You’ll be part of recently incepted team of 3 data experts within the People team at Hiscox, working alongside our Data Engineer and the Head of People Data and Analytics. You’ll be part of a much wider technology community within Hiscox. The Technology organisation comprises a Corporate Centre team and five business-aligned Technology teams partnering with our federated businesses. All working towards the same goal: Enabling the generation of data driven insights for business stakeholders. The Role We are looking for an expert in business intelligence, data analysis or data visualisation to develop and deliver analytics solutions. You’ll collaborate with business stakeholders and fellow technical resources to translate business problems into data driven solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to self-govern your own projects end-to-end and put your ideas and skills into motion. You’ll have the opportunity to be a part of a dynamic and rapidly expanding data community with access to leading technologies . This could provide you with new and exciting future opportunities within Hiscox. Key Responsibilities on an Analytics specialist: Build strong productive relationships with the business, IT teams and external 3rd parties in order to deliver effective solutions based on a deep understanding of the business and technology Identify options for potential solutions and assess them for both technical and business suitability Acting as an internal consultant owning the design, build and delivery of impactful and insightful dashboards, visualisations and reports Engineering datasets for use in analysis Proactively engaging project stakeholders to elicit requirements. Such as user stories, acceptance criteria, functional & non-functional specifications, business cases Promoting the use of analytics best practice across the group Documenting of key activities and processes General administration, security and maintenance Provide general BAU support to the business including training, mentoring Applying DevOps/DataOps principles in practice Field ad-hoc queries and requests from the business submitted through an internal case management system Must have skills: Strong skills in a business intelligence, data engineering, data analysis or data visualisation Experience working in HR / People teams and familiarity with their data is desirable but not essential Significant expertise with a modern analytics/BI platforms like Tableau/ Power BI /Qlik Significant understanding of data preparation tools like Alteryx Designer, SSIS, Azure Data Factory, MS Power Platform High level of ability in T- SQL Strong understanding of and passion for data visualisation best practice Strong understanding of data modelling concepts Ability to analyse and translate business problems into data driven solutions Confident communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences Experience working in an Agile environment The ability to work autonomously and manage own workload Our nice to have skills: Analytics vendor certification Insurance industry experience Degree in Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or similar quantitative discipline Significant experience in PowerBI About Hiscox: As an international specialist insurer we are far removed from the world of mass market insurance products.
