About the Role

Our finance function operates at the heart of ASOS. Say goodbye to preconceptions of bean-counters and hello to a multi-functional, business facing department. Our finance team controls the cash within the business and also provides support to the business to help it make decisions to lead us to being a global online fashion destination.

Financial Accounting

  • Developing a detailed knowledge of the businesses Capex operations (including Tech Capex).
  • Take ownership of all Capex financial entries, including ownership of the Fixed Asset Register: moving assets onto the register, running depreciation, validation of assets UEL and impairments. As well as review of costs and recognising accruals.
  • Ownership of Capex reporting including ability to take a detailed level of understanding on financial entries and display this into appropriate summary level for presentation to senior management.
  • Take ownership of ensuring correct accounting treatment in accordance with IFRS accounting standards for Capex, being pro-active to review current treatment and be able to provide guidance to the business as required. 
  • Assisting in the successful delivery of interim and year-end audit information for external auditors as well as ad hoc internal audits as required, ensuring all documents are delivered to an auditable standard and in line with agreed timeframes.
  • Constantly challenge the Fixed Asset Register, our accounting policies and processes, and work with Finance Tech colleagues on continuous Tech capex improvements.

Financial Control

  • Responsible for the preparation, self-review and continuous improvement of robust and accurate Balance Sheet reconciliations across Capex areas at month-end.
  • Ensuring financial controls, processes and risks are fully documented for all Capex related areas and regularly updated to meet the demands of the business.
  • Providing analysis, identifying potential process and control weaknesses, and work with the business to implement financial control improvements.
  • Ensuring accounting memos and policies remain up to date and capture any changes in our Capex policies.
  • Assisting in other ad hoc projects as required by the Finance Manager to provide business insight and ensure that objectives and deadlines are met.


Qualifications

About you

  • Qualified financial accountant (ACA/ACCA/Equivalent) 
  • Previous stock retail experience 
  • Comprehensive understanding of IFRS accounting standards and practical application 
  • Experience of carrying out or providing information for external and internal audits 
  • Experience in producing high-quality analysis and reporting 
  • Experience of working with non-financial stakeholders across multiple business areas 
  • Experience of working with senior levels within a business and adopting a professional approach always
