About the role

As the world of data engineering becomes increasingly pivotal in driving modern digital ecosystems, The Coventry is looking to welcome aSenior DataOps Engineerwho can inspire and coach our existing Data Engineering teams.

This is more than just a technical role; we're looking to build a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement. Working alongside domain-oriented, multi-disciplinary data product teams to design, develop, and test high-quality data solutions that serve as the backbone of our decision-making and digital services.

What You’ll Be Doing

  1. Drive automation and CI/CD practices across data pipelines and infrastructure
  2. Build robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure that supports our data platform strategy
  3. Lead and mentor data engineers, fostering a high-performance, collaborative environment
  4. Play a central role in designing and developing a new cloud-based Data Ecosystem
  5. Work closely with stakeholders to analyse requirements, design test strategies, and ensure data quality and integrity through comprehensive testing
  6. Collaborate in an agile environment with product managers, analysts, and developers to deliver data products that create tangible business value

About you
To be successful in this role it’s essential you have:

  • Experience building and automating data pipelines in finance, focusing on making data systems run smoothly and automatically using a DataOps or DevOps approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to automate and manage data systems for smooth and scalable operation.
  • Experience with tools likeAWS (S3, Glue, Redshift, SageMaker)or other cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity withDocker, Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Vaultfor managing secrets.
  • Proficiency inSQL, Python, Spark, or Scalafor data manipulation.
  • Experience with databases used in Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, and Lakehouse setups, with knowledge of both structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience in testing and adherence to testing standards.
  • Ability to lead and coach individuals, providing oversight over the development of data products.

Desirable experience will be:

  • Experience working in an Agile Team; preferably Safe.
  • Familiarity with specific tooling such as Qlik Replicate, Qlik Compose, DataBricks, Informatica, or SAS.
  • An understanding of data modelling methodologies (Kimball, Data Vault, Lakehouse).
  • Understanding of Data Science, AI, and Machine Learning workflows.
