Data Scientist – R Package Development (Healthcare / Life Sciences)

We’re working with a leading data science consultancy delivering impactful solutions to clients across healthcare, life sciences, and related sectors. They’re now looking for a Data Scientist with deep R expertise to support a high-profile project focused on developing and refining internal packages.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on coding, testing, and documentation — and thrives in an environment that values precision, clarity, and collaboration.

What you’ll be doing:
Reviewing, evaluating, and documenting internal R packages, ensuring they are robust, well-structured, and user-friendly
Writing unit tests in line with best practice for R package development
Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and technical teams to meet delivery goals

What you’ll bring:
Expert-level R programming, particularly in package development
Experience with unit testing frameworks in R and sound software engineering practices
Familiarity with GitHub and version control workflows
Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to write clear user guides and technical notes

Desirable (but not essential):
A background or interest in biostatistics, clinical programming, or healthcare analytics
Experience working in consultancy or client-facing environments
