Join us as a Senior Data Scientist at Natwest Boxed.

In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping our data-driven strategies and delivering impactful insights for our embedded finance and mobile banking products. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of fintech innovation, blending hands-on technical expertise with strategic thinking to drive business outcomes.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and operations teams, to optimise data processes, uncover actionable insights, and influence product development.

You will be a mentor and leader for junior data scientists, and contribute to fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and excellence within a passionate and forward-thinking team.

This role is available for a period of 12 months.

What you’ll do

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will take ownership of key data initiatives that drive the success of our products. Your role will blend hands-on technical work with strategic collaboration across cross-functional teams to deliver impactful results.

Some of your key responsibilities will be:

Teaming up with stakeholders from product, engineering, finance, marketing or operations to analyse customer behaviour and shape product development strategies.

Leveraging SQL and Python to build and optimise data models, automate workflows, and support data transformations. Use these models to create impactful dashboards that deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.

Leading the development and deployment of machine learning models to improve decision-making and product personalisation.

Exploring and implementing emerging AI technologies to enhance products and business operations.

Providing guidance and support to junior team members, cultivating an environment of learning, collaboration, and innovation.

The skills you’ll need

To excel in this role, you’ll need a combination of leadership experience, technical expertise, and strong communication skills. Specifically, we’re looking for:

Proven leadership and mentoring experience, with a track record of supporting team members in a fast-paced, evolving environment where roles and responsibilities grow with the business.

Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, with experience in data modelling and familiarity with tools like DBT and GitHub.

Hands-on experience with dashboarding and data visualisation tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.

A solid understanding of analytics techniques, including experimentation, statistical inference, and machine learning.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
