Job Title:Microsoft Fabric SME / Senior Data Engineer (3-Month initial Contract)

Location:Remote

Day Rate:£500-£600 (Outside IR35)


About the Role:

We are seeking a Microsoft Fabric SME/ Senior Data Engineer to join one of our clients for a critical 3-month project within the manufacturing sector. You will play a key role in the design, setup, and scaling of Microsoft Fabric operations, with the potential to progress into advanced data models incorporating AI and automation. This project involves large-scale data production and will require both technical expertise and strong communication skills.


Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for the initial build and design of the data environment, configuration, live pipeline setup, testing, automation, and release management.
  • Leading the advanced setup and optimisation of Microsoft Fabric for data analytics, model development, and automation.
  • Working on the practical implementation, with a focus on data ingestion, integration, and optimisation of pipelines.
  • Work closely with the team to set up data models, scale operations, and ensure smooth operational flow.
  • Engage with various stakeholders across the business, ensuring seamless communication and integration.


Key Skills & Expertise Required:

  • Microsoft Fabric Expertise: Analytics, DAX, PowerBI
  • Data Engineering & Integration: SQL, Python, CI/CD pipelines, ingestion, integration, and automation
  • Big Data Tools: PySpark, Apache Spark, Data Warehousing, Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, and Data Lake
  • DevOps & Version Control: CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, GitHub, RBAC (Role-Based Access Control)
  • Security & Governance: Data encryption, threat detection, and governance implementation
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Experience with Azure is essential
  • Manufacturing Sector: Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred
  • Machine Learning Knowledge: Beneficial for setting up AI and automation models (not essential)


Soft Skills:

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work inclusively with a diverse team.
  • Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
