A Senior Data Engineer will identify, define, manage, and deliver the data, tools, and other technical assets necessary for analytics, data science, and machine learning projects. These initiatives will generate insights, answer key business questions, solve business problems, and support decision-making at all levels of the organization.
Additionally, the Senior Data Engineer will mentor junior team members, promote engineering best practices, and maintain technical standards. They will also lead work streams, manage the delivery of multiple projects across the team, and serve as an internal SME for data, tooling, and technical practices related to data engineering for business intelligence, analytics, data science, and machine learning.
About the role
- Source, prepare, and manage data for BI, Analytics, and Data Science projects, ensuring strategic evolution of the data model.
- Design and develop data pipelines and analytics tools, deploying them through CI/CD for team and business use.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify new opportunities and ensure initiatives are supported with appropriate data and tools.
- Stay updated on best practices, mentor junior team members, and manage relationships with external partners to enhance capabilities.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, present regularly on relevant topics, and keep abreast of technical advancements through external partnerships.
About you
- Proven track record in leading cross-functional projects to successful conclusions and mentoring junior team members.
- Technical Proficiency: Broad understanding of BI and analytics tools (Python, R, SQL, Pyspark, Spark, Scala) and Microsoft SQL Server technologies (T-SQL, SSIS). Experience with various programming languages (C family, Java, Julia).
- Expertise in applying analytics and data science techniques, including predictive modeling and data mining. Proficient in data engineering and management design (data lakes, data warehouses).
- Considerable experience with cloud-based data and analytics technologies (Azure Data Factory, DataBricks) and creating efficient data marts/warehousing using Lakehouse architecture.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and presentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively in an Agile environment and effectively present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
