Applications are invited for a Band 8A Senior Clinical Scientist in Artificial Intelligence post at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.


You will join the Clinical Scientific Computing (CSC) team, which consists of clinical scientists, AI engineers, data scientists, radiologists, clinicians, and programme managers, working in close links with King's College London and other NHS Trusts. Your role will focus on evaluating, developing and implementing digital solutions, particularly AI, to enhance patient access to high‑quality healthcare.


The position is fully remote, with the team meeting in London once per week and attending fortnightly workshops in person. This dynamic, collaborative environment values openness, support, and continuous learning.


Responsibilities

  • Lead project delivery from inception to post‑deployment surveillance.
  • Manage stakeholders and communicate regularly with clinical and non‑clinical staff.
  • Collect, curate, and critically appraise data for AI development and testing.
  • Use version control tools (GitHub) and program in Python and C# to a high standard, following CI/CD and TDD principles.
  • Maintain two Linux servers, handling upgrades, installations, troubleshooting, and user access.
  • Work with Docker and virtual environments.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, provide constructive feedback, and sustain focus on complex tasks.
  • Operate independently and manage your own time productively.
  • Adhere to legislation and guidance on data protection, medical device maintenance, and NHS IT deployment.
  • Support the delivery of training programmes, including the NHS Fellowship in Clinical AI and the Scientist Training Programme in Clinical Scientific Computing and Clinical Informatics.
  • Help develop junior and temporary staff.
