Research Manager - political polling
c. £35,000 depending on experience
Exciting opportunity to join a start-up research agency in its infancy. We seek an entrepreneurially minded, analytically focused candidate with a passion for politics, survey data analytics, and the impact of data on political campaigns and public policy. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, ideally experience with political data, and the ability to present complex data in an accessible and impactful way. You will work with a variety of stakeholders, including political teams, policy advisors, and external partners, to support decision-making and strategy development.
Day to day you will work alongside the Director getting involved with data collection, analysis and interpretation of large datasets related to political trends, voting patterns, demographic analysis, and public opinion; conduct polling and survey analysis, identifying trends, correlations, and key insights that inform campaign strategies; develop predictive models and data-driven reports to assess the effectiveness of political campaigns, policy proposals, and public outreach efforts; provide actionable recommendations based on data analysis to support political candidates, advocacy groups, or governmental bodies; monitor political developments, elections, and polling data, keeping up to date with key issues and voter sentiment; create and maintain dashboards, visualisations, and reports to communicate findings clearly and effectively to non-technical stakeholders; assist in the preparation of presentations for political clients, stakeholders, and senior management, offering insights and data-driven conclusions; provide support during election cycles, working on political forecasting and electoral strategy.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
A degree in Political Science, Data Science, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
Strong proficiency with data analysis tools and software (e.g. SPSS, R, Python, SQL, Excel).
Experience in political data analysis, public opinion research, or similar fields is highly desirable.
Ability to work with large, complex datasets and extract meaningful insights.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings in a clear and concise manner to non-technical audiences.
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
Familiarity with polling methodologies and survey design.
Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Knowledge of UK political landscape, elections, and voting systems is a plus.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with data visualization tools
Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) for spatial analysis in political mapping.
Previous experience working on political campaigns or with political organizations.
Understanding of statistical modelling and data forecasting.
