Job Overview:

Would you like to play a part as a 12-month Intern developing the sort of next-generation technology that’s in the news, while working alongside and learning from some of the world’s best engineers? This is a twelve-month, paid intern opportunity to join our Cambridge team before returning to your studies. Please note your university course MUST allow you to complete a 12-month internship / Year in industry!

Arm’s university programs strive to nurture and build communities of practice for academics, teachers, learners and related software developers. Increasingly, we achieve this at scale by working with eco-system partners such as HW platform vendors, cloud infrastructure providers, ML authorities, philanthropic organizations, Electronic Design & Automation (EDA) companies and credible universities.

We are now seeking two interns to work together on a diverse range of projects, including taking advantage of the latest developments in generative AI technology for both productivity improvement and prospective products. You will be a full member of the team, and contribute to projects with real-world impact, that can enhance your CV.

What could you be doing as an Intern in our team?

Typical projects could be:

Leveraging, chaining and fine-tuning commercially available ML tools to add smart features to digital educational products

Developing easy-to-follow educational material (such as Jupyter notebooks, Dockerfiles, install guides, etc.) based on Arm and partner platforms such as AWS and Raspberry Pi

Using industry standard process such as unit test, regression tests and documentation generation

Collaborating with technical staff in higher education on validating and testing source code for portability across various platforms

Developing software tools for automation and working with internal and external partners to guarantee accurate, legal standards

We are looking for individuals who:

We are pragmatic about your exact background – the key things are enthusiasm, a willingness to be flexible and have a go and enough technical skills and experience to be credible. That means practically, you will be studying towards a degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or some other relevant STEM field where computing is important. You will have some experience with procedural programming languages such as C, or OOP languages such as Python/C++.

Qualities that will help your application stand out:

You might also have some personal interests such as robotics, computer architecture, embedded system design, system on chip design, machine learning or Arm hardware such as firmware for microcontroller development boards, programming FPGAs.

Other useful things would be:

A general understanding of operating systems, including embedded Linux

Experience with version control systems such as Git, software testing frameworks and documentation

Experience with deep learning, data engineering or prompt engineering

Experience with tutoring, teaching, and demonstrating concepts to learners

Experience with content editing/publishing

Additional Information:

Arm Internships require you to be enrolled in a higher education degree and be returning to your course after your internship/placement.  If you are graduating in 2025 you will not be eligible for an Intern role, but you will be eligible for our graduate roles. Our graduate roles will be advertised on the Arm Early Careers website .

Internship Start Dates: April and June.

We encourage early applications and review them on the first come and first served basis.  We aim to review all applications no later than two weeks after received. In peak periods there may be exceptions beyond this timeframe. We will do our best to keep your informed.

In Return:

Working on interesting new projects is exciting, but we also know how important it is to receive support. That's why throughout your internship, you can expect regular feedback and development opportunities, social activities to connect with your peers, an end of summer celebration, plus the opportunity to be *considered for future Graduate positions (*subject to performance). #getreadytogrow
