GLD is a non-ministerial government department, sponsored by the Attorney General. We are headed by the Treasury Solicitor, our Permanent Secretary and employ nearly 3000 people, including over 2000 legal professionals. Our offices include London, Leeds, Bristol, Croydon and Manchester as well as overseas. We provide specialist legal services including Litigation, Employment and Commercial Law as well as advising most Government Departments on the policies and services they deliver.

GLD also depends on a range of vital corporate services. These are essential to the smooth and efficient running of the Department and provide the foundation to enable GLD to deliver outstanding legal services. Our corporate functions include Strategy, HR, Finance, Digital, Data and Technology, Communications, Security, Commercial and Project delivery.�

About the Knowledge & Innovation Division

The work of the Knowledge and Innovation (K&I) Division is core to all our legal work in GLD. We equip government lawyers with the relevant knowledge, skills and tools to provide excellent legal service to ministers and officials.

The K&I Division is a multi-disciplinary team, that provides a portfolio of services spanning:

Knowledge � incorporating Library, Knowledge Systems and Engagement & Projects Knowledge Development Legal Learning Innovation

Sitting at the heart of the Government Legal Profession, we connect lawyers, support legal communities and facilitate sharing of knowledge and collaboration across government.

We drive innovation to improve legal processes and create new services, including introducing new legal technologies such as artificial intelligence and developing lawyers' capability to maximise the benefits of these technologies.

The Role

We are looking for a talented Engagement & Reporting Manager for this exciting role. The Manager will be responsible for co-ordinating the K&I Division�s engagement, communications and reporting activities and products.

The successful candidate will need skills and experience in stakeholder communications and engagement, primarily for internal audiences and events management.

Main responsibilities focus on 2 key deliverables:

co-ordinating the way we engage our people and our clients across our portfolio of knowledge, capability and innovation outputs and the benefits they bring; and promoting and reporting on the central and local activities that deliver our knowledge, capability and innovation outputs.

The role is core to the Division�s work and achievement.� The Manager will work closely with and support colleagues across the Division�s specialist areas. The Manager will also engage and collaborate with legal and other professional colleagues across GLD.

The role reports to the K&I Divisional Support Manager and manages a team of four, two of whom are direct reports.

The role will suit a self-motivated and organised applicant with proven skills in stakeholder communications and engagement; event management; digital media; customer research and data analysis and reporting.

The Manager will need to show leadership and creativity, delivering engaging and impactful communications.

Specific responsibilities include:

support the Head of Knowledge & Innovation with forward planning, understanding and management of the K&I Divisional portfolio develop and implement plans to engage and communicate the outcomes of K&I projects within GLD and co-ordinate the delivery of the communications; collaborate with GLD�s Communications & Engagement Team and other corporate services and legal colleagues to ensure the Division�s communications programme aligns with, and enhances, the overall GLD strategic ambitions, and ensure output produced is targeted efficiently and effectively using the most appropriate formats and channels; managing and developing the Division�s formal internal communications presence, on the �Eagle� intranet and other knowledge systems and maintaining the K&I know-how key assets spreadsheet; facilitating effective communication, engagement and knowledge sharing across the K&I Division with training, team days and other events and MS Teams; support colleagues with their individual projects using project management tools; manage and develop the Division�s formal reporting to internal committees; line manage and develop the junior members of the K&I Divisional Support team

Experience

Experience in creating and executing engagement and communications plans and evaluating their success. Experience of delivering engagement and communications campaigns using digital products and channels and communication formats.�� Strong experience in reporting on the work of a team and progress against strategy that demonstrates accountability to senior stakeholders. Strong project management, planning and portfolio management capability Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Experience of SharePoint, Office 365 and Power BI is desirable. A high level of digital literacy, particularly in relation to content design and management, online publishing and data visualisation tools, and social media.
