Job summary

This exciting role presents the opportunity to lead on the inpatient and YPHTT psychology service for adolescents. This post is based in the Brookside adolescent unit offering inpatient and home treatment team services to young people and their families. We are proud of our QNIC accreditation and as a service we have been rated as outstanding in our last ward CQC inspection. We offer high quality care to young people presenting with high risk or acuity. The postholder will have oversight of the psychology service across inpatient and YPHTT, offering psychological assessment, consultation, treatment and discharge planning for young people and their carers. Young people may be treated along psychosis, mood, anxiety, personality, and neurodevelopmental disorder pathways. The post holder and their team regularly link with CAMHS colleagues, education social care and other key members of our young people's networks.

Main duties of the job

Participating in the development and implementation of high standards of clinical care in the adolescent inpatient unit and the young people's home treatment team. Ensuring the psychology service provided is needs led, compliant with national guidance and is viewed positively by service users. Supporting the Brookside multidisciplinary team in their work and in the provision of psychologically informed and evidence-based interventions. Being part of the leadership team in Brookside and supporting senior managers and matrons in maintaining high quality service delivery. Exercising clinical responsibility for undertaking psychological assessment, psychological treatment and discharge planning of young people and their families, in consultation with the Brookside multi-disciplinary team. Provide clinical and managerial supervision to Applied Psychologists and junior members of the team To assist in the management, supervision, teaching and coordinating of trainee psychologists.

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,551 to a maximum of £5,735 pro rata for part time).
