Job Overview:

In Arm's Central Technology group we are building trail-blazing future technology which will keep Arm-based products redefining the state-of-the-art. We are looking for a hardworking Principal Algorithm Engineer to join us as part of the CT-Systems Applied Computer Vision Team. This team is responsible for multimedia and vision oriented algorithm design, technology research, as well as next-gen Arm Multimedia Subsystem Architecture for mobile, large screen compute and other market segments. Responsibilities:

  • You will be part of multimedia system architecture team, giving you the opportunity to develop and make a relevant contribution into Arm Compute Subsystems
  • The role will give you also outstanding opportunity to interact with world class specialists, architects and researchers, both inside and outside Arm
  • You will analyse video compression, video codecs, display processing algorithms and pipelines, by running experiments and evaluating video rate-distortion, as well as assess image quality of the next-gen video and display processor architectures
  • As Principal Algorithm Engineer you are asked for deep understanding and proven experience working with H.264/H.265, or AV1 video compression tools, core algorithms and image quality metrics
  • You will contribute to Arm Multimedia Subsystem architecture definition work by leading video encoder compression tools selection for AV1 codec compliance of the next-generation video processor HW, aiming for PPA-balanced Client solution
  • Also, you will have opportunity to represent Arm in various video codec expert groups

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in algorithm design, and/or image quality evaluation of complex video and image processing algorithms - preferably in the domain of H.264/HEVC video coding
  • Strong analytical thinking approach and problem solving skills
  • Experience in debugging and resolving image quality artefacts by proposing algorithm evolution
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with multiple teams under ambitious schedules, with a focus on delivery of results

"Nice to Have" Skills and Experience:

  • Technical Lead, or Lead Researcher experience on commercial image processing, video compression projects leading to commercial software, or hardware products
  • Experience in leveraging AI/ML methods in the domain of video coding and image processing algorithm design
  • Knowledge of advanced display processing algorithms, such as local tone mapping, and video HDR processing
  • Experience working with video coding expert groups
