What the day will look like Lead and mentor a team of AI Scientists and Engineers to deliver high-quality and scalable solutions for NLP and LLMs Conduct original research and publish in top-tier conferences and journals in the field of NLP and LLMs Stay abreast of the latest developments and trends in NLP and LLMs and incorporate them into our products and services Establish best practices and standards for NLP and LLMs development and evaluation Building bridges between academia, technology, and third-party industry partners Communicate effectively with senior management, clients, and partners to present and explain our solutions and their business value How this opportunity is different We have an opportunity for a Principal AI Scientist to lead our research and development efforts in natural language processing (NLP) and large language models (LLMs) for the financial services and insurance industry.
You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating novel solutions that leverage state-of-the-art NLP and LLMs, such as GPT-4, Claude, Huggingface, LLaMA, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Pinecone, and others.
You will also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and address the most impactful and challenging problems in this domain.
This role will be both a hands-on role and technical lead on highly visible projects.
The Principal AI Scientist is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of building world-class AI insurance products with a global organisation whilst working directly with Senior Leadership across Aon.

We are keen to contribute and co-create with third parties and Universities, feeding back to open-source community, writing papers etc.
Skills and experience that will lead to success Masters/PhD in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related field, with a focus on NLP and LLMs Proven track record of contributions to large AI domain software and data engineering projects relevant to financial services and insurance industry Designing and developing innovative AI model architectures that leverage principles from encoder/decoders, jointly trained models, Siamese-twin models, VAEs, GANs, etc.
You will also be involved in advanced training methods such as GPT and Diffusion and developing/refining learning objectives including self-supervision You'll be skilled in adapting and debugging ML systems across different environments, interested in all aspects of machine learning, such as parameter efficient adaptation of large language and vision models.
You will have acquired expertise in Transformers, be experienced with API wrappers like LangChain and Auto-GPT, have experience in evaluating LLMs and prompt engineering, semantic search, and embedding-based fine tuning of NLP models such as those in Sentence Transformers Experience in leading teams of AI Scientists and Engineers Knowledge of Microsoft AI services desirable How we support our colleagues In addition to our comprehensive benefits package, we encourage a diverse workforce.
