We are seeking

a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the Stevens Group. The ideal candidate will be a confident self-starter with broad experience in microfluidic platforms for organ-on-a-chip models and have a solid background in bioengineering, molecular biology, or bioinformatics. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing cutting-edge imaging, spectroscopy, and omics tools to advance organ-on-a-chip monitoring, while collaborating with experts in tissue engineering, nanotechnology, optics, and machine learning. This post is available from January 2025 for an initial fixed-term of 18 months, with part-time appointments considered.Key responsibilities:• Develop high-throughput and targeted imaging workflows for omics and chemometric marker analysis.• Implement advanced imaging, spectroscopy, and omics techniques in organoids and cell cultures.• Collaborate closely with researchers in tissue engineering, nanotechnology, optics, and machine learning.• Analyze and explore multi-dimensional datasets to understand correlations in organ-on-a-chip systems• Manage independent research and administrative tasks related to the project.• Contribute to a vibrant and multidisciplinary research environment, working with internationally recognized groups in biomaterials and nanomaterials.Selection criteria:• PhD (or nearing completion) in bioengineering, molecular biology, bioinformatics, or a relevant discipline• Proven experience with microfluidic platforms for organ-on-a-chip models.• Knowledge of stem cell biology techniques.• Demonstrated ability to manage independent research and administrative responsibilities.• Proven track record of first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals.• Strong collaborative and communication skills, with impeccable work ethics.What we offer:Your wellbeing at work matters, so we offer a range of family friendly and financial benefits including:• An excellent contributory pension scheme• 38 days annual leave• A comprehensive range of childcare services• Family leave schemes• Cycle and electric car loan schemes• Employee Assistance Programme• Membership to a variety of social and sports clubs• Discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans While this is a full-time role, we welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working or other flexible working arrangements.
