The Portfolio Management Office (PMO) within Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) is seeking a PMO Apprentice to provide crucial administrative support to theprocesses, structures, and systems that the Service uses to make important decisionsregarding the management of their portfolio of programmes, and projects. The post holder willundertake a range of business support activities, including:
- Maintaining the PMO digital system
- Maintaining intranet pages
- Scheduling, and administering meetings
- Scheduling training events
- Managing the PMO inbox.
As part of the role, the post holder will undertake, and successfully complete, a Business Administration Apprenticeship.
The PMO is a central function that collaborates with Service leaders to understand and support the development of Service priorities, planning, and portfolio development. The team creates, maintains, implements, coaches, and champions the consistent use of GMFRS’s PMO Framework for colleagues involved in all programmes and projects in the portfolio. The PMO develops and delivers a series of training and briefing sessions to support colleagues in their programme / project related roles and responsibilities. The team provides an objective and impartial view of portfolio progress, reporting on an eight-weekly basis.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a blue light service and learn about the various projects undertaken by the Service. Full on-the-job training will be provided; however, candidates need to achieve English and Maths at Level 2 by the end of the apprenticeship. Candidates should also be able to work accurately, and follow instructions, plan work, and meet deadlines, possess good ICT skills, and build effective working relationships with others.
