NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. 

You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post. 

This is a fulltime permanent post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Sunday.

The successful candidate is required to demonstrate flexibility by working within a service, which runs over a 7 day week, 365 days of the year, including night shift. Furthermore, the successful candidates will be expected where absolutely necessary to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in order to achieve the needs of the service.

These posts require PVG Scheme membership /Disclosure Scotland Check.

The unit consists of 9 operating theatres, and a 12 bed recovery room. The unit provides operative care for patients undergoing a range of surgical procedures including, Gynaecology, Urology, General Surgery, ENT, obstetric anaesthetics and both elective and trauma Orthopaedics. In addition to this the new and exciting colorectal robotic list delivered at the QE site. All posts will have a base location initially in either anaesthetics, recovery or scrub and will then rotate around the specialties following the in house training model. With the full support of the periop education team.

 In addition to having current NMC/HCPC registration applicants should be enthusiastic, motivated and have an interest of working in the peri-operative environment. Previous experience within the peri-operative environment, is a definate advantage, however full training will be provided with in house perioperative educator support.

The department offers team support and continuing education opportunities, both delivered across GG&C and at Glasgow Caledonia university

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
